Mission Hospitals  was formed from Asheville's two private acute care hospitals in the late 1990's. An organizational partnership in 1996 was followed by a full merger in 1999 when St. Joseph's Hospital was purchased from the Sisters of Mercy by Memorial Mission Medical Center. Mission operates under a Certificate of Public Advantage issued by the State of North Carolina and designed to ensure that its chargesare fair and it provides documented benefit to the community.

Haywood Regional Medical Center is a comprehensive acute care Medical Center with a targeted focus on preventive healthcare. Our history of caring for residents of Haywood County and surrounding counties began in 1927 when Haywood County Hospital opened as the first county hospital in the state. The autumn of 1979 brought a new era of healthcare to the area when our main building was completed on our present location. A 17-acre tract of land donated by Reverend and Mrs. L. B. George of Lake Junaluska helped make our beautiful mountain setting possible. The main entrance drive is named in memory of their son, Leroy George. Since our founding, the area has grown through many phases and we have responded by growing along with it. Located on 51 acres of land, HRMC is a major health care provider today, featuring centers of excellence providing a comprehensive array of the finest medical services available, and always remaining a compassionate, family Medical Center. Patient Activity

Haywood Regional Medical Center is a 194-bed facility with a staff of 885 and a $110 million operating budget. Per the last fiscal year report (October 1, 2001-September 30, 2002), we served 6,148 patients on an in-patient basis and 90,312 patients on an out-patient basis. The Emergency Department volume has grown from 19,390 patients in 1999 to 23,534 patients in 2001, a 17.6% growth. From 2002 to 2005, the Emergency Room projected volume is 28,711, a 22% potential growth.

The experience for patients and guests at Park Ridge Health is one of personalized and compassionate care in a Christian environment. This is why Park Ridge places quality of care as its top priority, and continually strives to be in the top 10 percent of hospitals nationwide on the National Hospital Quality Measures. In the Fourth Quarter of 2010, Park Ridge Health scored in the top 10 percent of hospitals nationally for customer service scores based on the quality of each patient experience.
In addition to Joint Commission Accreditation, Park Ridge Health elects to participate in the American Osteopathic Association’s Healthcare Facilities Accreditation Program. These dual accreditations place Park Ridge as a leading facility in the region based on national levels of quality and patient safety. 
Park Ridge Health’s main campus is conveniently located off I-26 at exit 44, an easy drive from both Asheville and Hendersonville. Additionally, there are 31 individual physician offices and care centers across the region delivering more than 300,000 patient care experiences each year.
Community Impact
Park Ridge is one of the largest not-for-profit organizations in Western North Carolina. In the past five years, Park Ridge has provided $81 million dollars in direct community benefit to the region, with a total of $40 million in charity care and $41 million in capital improvements. An expanded ER, lab, imaging center, advanced 20-bed outpatient surgery center and spa-like women’s center are all recent investments to the area’s community health care infrastructure.
Additionally, many core community services are based at Park Ridge Health. These include the Wellness on Wheels program, which has provided more than 50,000 free or at-cost health screenings in the past five years. This mobile medical RV is on the road five-days-a-week and serves a four-county area. Each year many lives are saved and positively impacted by this invaluable community benefit.
Park Ridge is also the leading health care provider in the region focusing on childhood wellness. They provide both the Kid Power and PREP programs, touching thousands of children each year through free screenings and wellness education.
Project C.A.R.E. is also based at Park Ridge Health. This statewide program focuses on meeting the critical needs of families caring for loved ones with dementia. Hundreds of families are served annually by this vital regional service.
In addition to the community programs, Park Ridge Health is a major economic engine for the entire region. More than $250 million dollars in salaries and benefits were paid to 1,100 team members in the past five years, $59 million in 2010 alone.

The Baby Place at Park Ridge Health

At The Baby Place, Park Ridge strives to provide a uniquely exceptional experience with private family suites and room service in a spa-like environment. The highly-experienced nursing team and the leading OB/GYN care team in Henderson County provide world-class care and offer traditional delivery, natural labor , midwifery and low-intervention birth options.   Park Ridge Health is also home to Western North Carolina’s only dedicated C-section suite, including a family viewing room, allowing extended family members the opportunity to experience the miracle of birth.
The Baby Place experience begins with valet parking, where guests are then ushered to the comfort of their large, private family suite and provided with a luxurious robe and slippers. They are then able to enjoy a rich experience along with many amenities, including spa treatments, luxurious therapeutic hot tubs, aromatherapy and massage, gourmet restaurant dining, free in-room movies and internet access, and  sleeper sofas for family members. 
The strong care team of obstetricians, pediatricians, pediatric hospitalists, nurses and care-coordinators at The Baby Place are all focused on providing the most memorable and safest experience possible through all stages of pregnancy, birth and post-care follow up. 
Due to an unwavering commitment to practice evidence based medicine, in 2011 Park Ridge Health was named by Leapfrog, a national patient safety organization, as the second best performing hospital in North Carolina to have a baby, only behind the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill Hospitals.
Park Ridge Health at Laurel Park:Park Ridge Health at Laurel Park offers a modern medical resource near Downtown Hendersonville. This special facility includes physicians who specialize in internal medicine, physical therapy, orthopedics, diagnostic imaging (CT, X-ray, ultrasound, bone density, digital mammography and MRI) and a full-service laboratory. It also offers amenities for added comfort, such as free internet, flat screen televisions, stone fireplaces and a picturesque rock water garden. 
In 2010, Park Ridge launched the Center for Pelvic Health at Laurel Park. The board-certified physician specialists with the Center are dedicated to restoring normal pelvic function for both men and women. Whether leakage has been caused by childbirth, declining prostate health, or pelvic organ displacement, the Park Ridge Center for Pelvic Health has quickly grown to meet the critical needs faced by many in the region.

The Emergency Department at Park Ridge Health serves thousands of families each year, 24-hours-a-day. Conveniently located on the Park Ridge Health campus, right off I-26 provides easy access for many across the region. Board-certified physicians and highly-trained nurses serve in the advanced facility equipped with the GetWellNetwork in all patient rooms. The department also includes a FAST TRACK service for less urgent emergencies, allowing all patients to see a care provider in a fast, efficient manner.
Oncology Care:
As a leader in oncology care, the cancer services at Park Ridge Health are individually tailored to the needs of every patient.  Constantly striving to provide the most advanced care and treatment, Park Ridge Health Cancer Services was awarded national accreditation by The Commission on Cancer (COC) and the American College of Surgeons. Additionally, Park Ridge has won the Outstanding Achievement Award and was the first hospital in Western North Carolina, and one of only 66 other hospitals in the U.S. to receive this prestigious honor. 
Offering services in education and early detection, infusion chemotherapy, and cancer rehabilitation, Park Ridge Health provides a comprehensive center for cancer services that includes a multi-specialty team approach to coordinate the best treatment options, as well as information about on-going clinical trials and new treatment options.

All facilities provide state-of-the-art rehabilitation services and highly-skilled team members to assist in helping patients to fully recover from surgery or injury quickly. Park Ridge Pulmonary and Sleep Medicine:  Park Ridge Pulmonary and Sleep Medicine specializes in the most advanced technology for the comprehensive diagnosis and treatment of sleep-related disorders and concerns, and is accredited by the American Academy of Sleep Medicine. Patients are welcome to self-refer for sleep studies. Infusion Services: Park Ridge Health Cancer Services offers comprehensive infusion treatments, led by a dedicated team of multidisciplinary specialists who provide some of the most advanced diagnostic and therapeutic technologies available, as well as genetic testing, cancer rehabilitation, and a strong network of support.Cardiopulmonary Services and Rehab: Park Ridge Health Cardiopulmonary Services offers extensive cardiology and respiratory care and rehabilitation care. Using a full spectrum of cardiovascular, interventional and respiratory care services, the cardiopulmonary care team offers diagnostic testing, exercise and education classes, cardiopulmonary rehabilitation, respiratory therapy, nutritional counseling and support.Breast Health Center: The Park Ridge Breast Health Center understands the importance of a personalized approach to breast health, and provides the services of a breast health nurse coordinator who personally contacts each mammogram patient with fast results, assists with patient navigation from imaging to treatment options, provides free breast self-exam instruction and gives women with breast concerns a central contact to guide them through available resources. The Center also offers diagnostic ultrasound, ultrasound-guided core needle biopsy and radiation catheter insertion, clinical breast exams and breast cancer risk assessments. A caring team of board-certified surgeons and specially-trained nursing staff provides support to each patient, in addition to special cancer support groups such as Breast Cancer Survivors and Friends, Reach to Recovery, Look Good, Feel Better classes, and a Patient Resource Room offering free wigs, prostheses and head wear provided by generous donations from the American Cancer Society.Wound Care: Park Ridge Wound Care offers an extensive and comprehensive wound care program, including hyperbaric medicine, led by a multidisciplinary team to assist with the healing of chronic or complicated wounds.Home Health: Park Ridge Home Health’s trained professionals provide compassionate, coordinated services in a familiar setting to homebound, seriously ill or injured patients who require skilled care under the direction of a physician. Referrals for services are welcome from patients, physicians, discharge planners, family members or neighbors. Park Ridge Home Health is a full-service home health agency that covers a four county area.
Audiology: Park Ridge Hearing and Balance Center offers complete audiology services for all ages, which includes comprehensive hearing evaluations, dispensing of hearing aids and balance testing. 
Diagnostic Imaging: Park Ridge Health offers the latest in diagnostic imaging technologies including a 64-slice CT scanner, Digital Mammography and MRI technology. Services are available at both the Park Ridge Health facility and at Park Ridge Health at Laurel Park in Hendersonville. 
Ear, Nose, Throat, Head & Neck Surgery: Park Ridge Ear, Nose, Throat, Head & Neck Surgery provides friendly, expert care for a comprehensive range of ear, nose and throat disorders for patients of all ages.

A PLACE RECOGNIZED FOR EXCELLENCE Established as a 20-bed haven for children with disabilities, CarePartners Thoms is now a 100-bed private, not-for-profit regional referral center. Care at CarePartners Thoms covers all levels of rehabilitation, from the treatment of minor sports and work injuries on an outpatient basis to rehabilitation programs for serious and critical diseases such as stroke and spinal cord injuries. CarePartners Thoms has been recognized by the national Rehabilitation Accreditation Commission, CARF, for our qualified, energetic, committed and dedicated staff.

The Asheville VA Medical Center is a tertiary care facility in all areas except hemodialysis, neurosurgery, and radiation therapy, and is classified as a Clinical Referral Level II Facility. Comprehensive health care is provided through primary care, tertiary care, and long-term care in areas of medicine, surgery, psychiatry, physical medicine and rehabilitation, neurology, dentistry, geriatrics, and extended care. The Asheville VA Medical Center (AVAMC) consists of 112 hospital beds and a 120-bed Extended Care and Rehabilitation Center. AVAMC also operates a Home Based Primary Care Program and a Substance Abuse Residential Rehabilitation Treatment Program (SARRTP). The medical center is particularly known for its strong programs in cardiac (open heart), vascular and thoracic surgery.
